Il 16 dicembre si terrà a Londra una Conferenza organizzata dal Palestinian Return Centre (PRC), alla quale parteciperanno accademici ed esperti europei, americani e mediorientali, ma anche politici di vari Paesi arabi, per discutere del futuro dei rifugiati palestinesi.
La Conferenza cade in occasione del 60° anniversario della fondazione dell’UNRWA.
Tra l’altro, la Conferenza discuterà anche delle difficili condizioni in cui versa l’agenzia che si occupa dei profughi palestinesi.
La Conferenza si articolerà in quattro sessioni e coinvolgerà nelle discussioni anche studenti e ricercatori.
Norman Finkelstein presiederà una sessione intitolata “What’s Preventing Peace?”, mentre il ricercatore palestinese Salman Abu Sitta terrà un intervento intitolato “UNRWA! The unsung Hero”.
I parlamentari Claire Short, Geremy Corybon e Jenny Tonge parleranno della “causa palestinese” in relazione alla questione dei rifugiati.
Una sessione dedicata ai servizi offerti dall’UNRWA sarà inoltre di particolare interesse. Vi si esamineranno quali di questi sono soddisfacenti o meno, quindi ci si attende che dalla discussione escano proposte per migliorare il servizio offerto.
La Conferenza si terrà a Londra Euston, a pochi metri dalla Euston Station presso la Friends House (London) Hospitality, 173 Euston Road, London NW1 2BJ.
