Telegraph ha dichiarato che il licenziamento della Baronessa Jenny Tonge dal suo incarico di portavoce per la Salute del partito Liberal Democratico Britannico, scoraggia la libertà d’espressione e la ricerca della verità.
La Tonge è stata licenziata dopo aver richiesto alla Gazzetta Ebraica l’apertura di un’inchiesta per smentire le accuse di furto di organi da parte del team di soccorso israeliano impegnato ad Haiti dopo il terremoto. Simili accuse, contro i medici di soccorso israeliani, furono sollevate da un opinionista ebreo del The Palestine Telegraph, Stephen Lendman. Il giornalista si è occupato ampiamente delle accuse di furto di organi su pazienti palestinesi e non all’interno di Israele e, le medesime accuse sono state riportate da vari media e sono state testimoniate da un video di You Tube. Questa volta lo stesso reato si sarebbe consumato ad Haiti.
Tonge, membro del Consiglio del The Palestine Telegraph, avrebbe comunicato alla Gazzetta Ebraica di “prevenire accuse simili poiché, qualora si dovesse andare avanti con un’indagine, le Forze di Difesa Israeliane e l’Associazione dei Medici Israeliani, sarebbero costretti ad istitutire un’inchiesta indipendente immediatamente per rendere noti i nomi dei membri del gruppo di lavoro presente ad Haiti”.
“I nostri opinionisti esprimono punti di vista personali che non necessariamente rispecchiano l’opinione del gruppo editoriale o del suo Consiglio,” ha affermato il gruppo editoriale The Palestine Telegraph in una dichiarazione. “Inoltre, quanto ha sostenuto la Baronessa Tonge non era propriamente un’accusa quanto un richiamo ad avviare un’indagine che facesse chiarezza su tali sospetti. Ci piacerebbe pensare che Israele ed i suoi sostenitori vedessero di buon grado l’opportunità di mantenere illibato il nome dello stato”.
Il gruppo ha poi aggiunto ricordando che le precedent accuse di furto di organi da parte di fisici israeliani è stato ricoperto ampiamente dai media. Inoltre nel dicembre 2009, gli ufficiali israeliani hanno confermato che, negli anni ’90 scienziati forensi estrassero effettivamente organi da palestinesi assassinati da soldati israeliani, e senza alcun permesso delle famiglie delle vittime. Secondo quanto riporta il Guardian, “…negli anni ’90 ad Abu Kabir, alcuni specialisti raccolsero pezzi di epiderma, corne, valvole cardiache ed ossa dai corpi di soldati israeliani, cittadini israeliani, lavoratori palestinesi e di altre nazionalità, spesso senza alcun permesso da parte delle famiglie. In un programma TV andato in onda su Canale 2, l’esercito israeliano confermò, che questa pratica ebbe luogo aggiungendo però: “quest’attività ha avuto fine dieci anni fa e da allora non si è più ripetuta”. Lo scorso 15 gennaio, il quotidiano israeliano Haaretz riportava “ la missione di soccorso delle Forze di Difesa Israeliane ad Hati è partita la notte del 14 gennaio con le attrezzature necessarie per installare un ospedale da campo. Nella delegazione c’erano circa 220 soldati ed ufficiali…”.
Il licenziamento di Tonge giunge dopo una lunga campagna denigratoria contro la Baronessa e contro altri politici impegnati perché su faccia giustizia e per la libertà dei palestinesi.

Baroness Tonge fired from UK party post for seeking truth

London and Gaza, Feb. 14, 2010 (Pal Telegraph) – The dismissal of
Baroness Jenny Tonge from her post as health spokesperson for the
British Liberal Democrat party discourages freedom of expression and
the search for truth, says the editorial team of the Palestine
Telegraph.
Tonge was fired after calling in the Jewish Chronicle for an
independent inquiry to disprove accusations of organ theft by the
Israeli earthquake-relief team in Haiti. Concerns about possible organ
theft by Israeli medical-relief workers were aired by a Jewish
columnist for the Palestine Telegraph, Stephen Lendman. The columnist
reiterated previous, widely covered charges of organ theft from
Palestinian and other patients in Israel, and reported charges aired
in several media reports and a YouTube video that the same crime was
occurring in Haiti.
Tonge, who is a member of the Board of Patrons for the Palestine
Telegraph, told the Jewish Chronicle that “to prevent allegations such
as these…(from) going any further, the IDF and the Israeli Medical
Association should establish an independent inquiry immediately to
clear the names of the team in Haiti.”
“Our columnists speak only for themselves, not for the views of the
editorial staff or its Board of Patrons,” the Palestine Telegraph
editorial team said in a statement. “In addition, Baroness Tonge was
clearly not making any accusations herself, but rather, calling for an
investigation that would dispel the cloud of suspicion. We would think
Israel and its supporters would welcome an opportunity to clear the
state's name.”
The team added that it is worth mentioning that charges of previous
organ theft by Israeli physicians have been widely reported, and in
December 2009, Israeli officials confirmed that forensic scientists in
the 1990s took organs from Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers
without permission from the families. According to the Guardian
Newspaper, “…in the 1990s, specialists at Abu Kabir harvested skin,
corneas, heart valves and bones from the bodies of Israeli soldiers,
Israeli citizens, Palestinians and foreign workers, often without
permission from relatives. The Israeli military confirmed to the
Channel 2 TV programme that the practice took place, but added: 'This
activity ended a decade ago and does not happen any longer.'” On Jan.
15 of this year, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that, “The
Israel Defense Forces' aid mission to Haiti left Israel overnight
(Jan. 14) with equipment for setting up an emergency field hospital.
Around 220 soldiers and officers (were also included) in the
delegation….”
Tonge's dismissal came after a long campaign against her and other
politicians who call for justice and freedom for Palestinians.
The Palestine Telegraph is a grassroots media outlet based in Gaza
and the United Kingdom. Its goal is to provide comprehensive coverage
of news related to the Occupied Palestinian Territories and the Middle
East. It has been under attack for the past few months from Israeli
Web sites in the UK and the United States.
